Your Neighbor's Pool is the Cleanest
Peering through the rotting, stained wood
I see the land of milk and honey.
Neons, electric yellow,
plastics green and pink
lying a top a cool, clean blue.
I see Jesus running across in his swimming trunks.
A tall glass of water shimmies out of the sliding glass door
in a purple bikini.
She sprawls out on a long, woven
cabana chaise. Temptation.
I look away.
I settle. Our algae
saturated pool beckons.
I accept.
My shorts trap air and glub
under the thickness.
