Only Darkness

Darkness consumes me,
I stumble around looking for the light at the end of the tunnel,
Searching for the silver lining,
But there’s no silver,
Only black.
Total utter complete darkness,
It swallows me and spits me up,
Thrusts me into a world unknown and begs me to understand,
I reach my hand toward you but there is no comfort,
Only sorrow.
Your touch brings me pain,
It brings me distress, loss, and a withered sense of self,
I can’t keep stumbling through this tunnel,
Where my eyes cannot see color,
Only shades of gray.
