Stairway to Seven
Stairway to Seven
The cracking of pads,
The smacking of helmets,
Fall is creeping closer,
And with it comes the favorite of many.
We buy the new Madden,
We sign up for fantasy,
We check Twitter for the latest news.
This, all done out of anticipation
For that first Sunday to come.
And at last
The jerseys come out,
Decorations up, snacks piled high.
The streets are quiet,
TV’s blaring.
For all other plans have been set aside
To cheer on our team.
Uproar at a touchdown,
Faces red from yelling,
at a bad call.
We jump for joy,
We lean on each other after loss.
But no matter the outcome,
We Pittsburgher’s stay true.
We are the Black and Gold,
The Steel Curtain,
The best in the game.
And that’s right-stairway to seven,
Is what this season holds.
