"I finally understood what true love meant...love meant that you care for another person's happiness more than your own, no matter how painful the choices you face might be."
-Nicholas Sparks

All this time,
observing You.
waiting for You to take
watching the Holy Ghost guide you

Your time is finally over,
no time to feel guilty.
or fix mistakes.
I wonder often what you think of while You lie there
helpless,
speechless,
frozen.
think over your life,

Questions I want to ask,
moments You should be here for.
questions unanswered, words You want to say.

You're descending
losing the race of life slowly,

Last one of her family tree
She took care of You,
She grew up with You.
You were all she had left.

You had a special place in your heart for me
tears falling rapidly,
But that mountain can't be moved.
It can't be faced.

Because it's taken over You,
eaten You alive.
taken your dignity,
made You weak.

My last goodbye to You,
I stood there and embraced You
looking up at me
looking over you
I kissed your head goodbye

You grabbed my hand for the last time
grasped me in the eye and started to cry
the final release.

Breathe in for the last time.
as You propel downward,
and begin to rise above the rest.
let your heart embrace the Lord.
The world turns into a black vortex,
Death.
Now tell me,
Is this a promise?

My Great Uncle died yesterday from a terrible and extremely fatal disease (MSA) Multiple Systems Atrophy. Forever he will lie in our hearts. This poem shows my last visit to him.
