There are those who look at things the way they are, and ask why... I dream of things that never were, and ask why not?
--Robert Kennedy

Silence
is golden they say,
yet…how?
Silence fills the mind
with wonder,
insanity,
and conspicuity.
So how is it—golden?

Silence
is silence.
Quiet
is silence.
Silence is like
a thick plate of ice
frozen in place.
Silence is like
time has stopped
and has never started.

Silence
is what you hear
when the “grey matter”
is really thinking,
or when you are really concentrating,
or when you are really listening.
Silence
is chilling.
Silence
is when fear
conquers your desires.
Silence
creates a clear distance
between you
and everything else.

Silence
is shock
from the memories and moments that you will never forget.
Silence
is a guilty pleasure
kept to yourself.
Silence
is your soul
waiting to be replenished.

Silence
is golden they say,
yet…how?
Now, you know.

The silence at school was driving me to insanity! So I wrote this about...silence.
