The Last 100
Running
Heart racing
Blood pulsing
Mind blowing
Running as fast as you can
Not looking back
Scared that it will slow you down
I look down and the black rubber track is there for only a second
Before there is a new piece of it under my feet
The crowd cheering
Urging me to run on
To run faster
The yellow line seems so far away
Relief seems so far away
It moves closer I run to it
It’s like seeing water in the desert
I hear the heavy breathing of the competition behind me
It’s to close
So I push on till I can only hear the sound of my own breath
The swishing of my sweatpants when they rub together
The pounding of my feet as they speed up for the last 100
I push myself till I pass the yellow line
I push myself to the limit
And because of that I win
