My Unchildhood

I turn the corner
and look through the window
to see you there
with her
and her stupid lips.

I honestly don’t care
how much I loved you…
and I didn’t.

I made a mistake.
I thought I was a grown-up.

I’m not.

I
am
thirteen.

The truth is…
I never loved you.
I only felt guilty.

That’s the problem.
I thought I was responsible.

So take your
fake
grown-up words and
attack some other girl with them.
However, when that other girl
you’re planning to attack

is my best friend,
you’ve gone too far.

We just want to be kids.
