No good deed goes unpunished.
All acts of charity,
Receive disapproving glances.
To act for another, and not for oneself,
Is to defy the status quo.
This is generation ME.
We possess neither the curiosity,
Nor the will,
To focus on anything but ourselves.

Don’t look up.
Don’t stick out.
Do focus on you.
Do block out your surroundings.
Why would you want to care for others?

We have no reason to question,
The way things are.
Why fight our ways,
When the fear of diversity
Is so wonderfully crushing?
As a hammer pounding on the heart.
Why argue against a society,
In which the cries of those in need
Dance around our ears,
As fingernails caressing a chalkboard.

Always keep moving.
Head down,
Face forward,
Onward.
