Valiant Victory
The happiest kid in the world
races down the bare hallways
of a crammed hospital
He’s bald, he’s fragile,
he’s a cancer patient
Concern covers his mother’s face
as she sprints down the white corridor,
pushing his wheelchair.
His happy-go-lucky smile
and excitement radiates
off his 75 pound frame
Tattered clothes consume
his bony body;
his battered attire
resembles his search for survival
That’s all he wants to be—a survivor
The hallway’s end rapidly approaches,
and his pace begins to slow with sights
of victory in grasp
The brutal battle ends; he passes through pearly gates
and is greeted by God’s loving arms
