The voice declared danger,
But they continued
on,
Hearing the sound of an explosion, they
d
r
o
p
to the deserts velvet sand
forgetting basic training, he stands,
POP
The lieutenant falls when a bullet pierces his Kevlar vest
As he hits the ground, the sand splashes like a tsunami
His comrade’s locateandexterminate
They pause
and mourn for him
The unit’s honorable hero
was
dead
Reality was
he had a beautiful death
