Teen Pregnancy
That news, what devastating news.
How easily the words flowed from her lips.
Standing so dumbly, eyes numb, face numb.
Soul numb.
What did she just murmur to me?
It was small, almost a whisper,
her face, looking down, fingers crumpled into sweater pockets.
Her eyes quickly darted up, small fast darts to see me painfully.
Gosh, what amazing eyes, no.
I cannot think that.
That news. What devastating news.
Slammed reality into my face.
I. I love her so much. Too much.
And this happens. This is what happens when you love too much.
Her hands move over her stomach and she begins to weep.
I, like the fool I am, can only feel numb.
