Perfect Storm
The rain starts to fall again
Softly the pitter-patter of the drops gain tempo
Drip, drip, drop, drop,
Birds flee into their nests
Squirrels run for cover and comfort
Alone I watch the pace quicken
Drip drop, drip drop, drip drop
As the storm brews so dose my emotions
Every drop is another fault hitting the ground
As they build in numbers they puddle up
Just as they do in me
As I watch the pace quicken
Drip drip drip drop, drip drip drip drop
With every sound the loneliness grows
Every drop is another who isn’t with me
Pooling up together while I am alone
The tempo lightens
Drip, drop, drip. drop…
Then nothing; but my emotions remain
Until another cloud drifts by
And the cycle is renewed
