Your small hand
Clutched
A tiny flower.
One,
Lonely flower,
You picked
For me.
I wish
That then I
Was old enough
To see
That it was
Only,
A weed.


The author's comments:
The idea for this poem came from a girl in my creative writing class reading a poem she wrote, and one of the lines had the word "weed" in it.
