Stars in Brooklyn
Brooklyn’s covered in a cloud
A haze of
Sputtering yellow lights and
Funny looking people on the corner of the street but
Last night
I saw stars in Brooklyn.
I guess I knew they were there all along
I mean
There are more stars in the sky
Than people on earth
It only makes sense
That they’re here, too.
And I guess that stars aren’t only there
On clear summer nights
Or as a backdrop
For first kisses
But somehow I forgot
That there were stars here.
Behind Brooklyn’s hazy mask
Beyond people’s hazy vision
They shine, day or night
And I guess it’s just a question
Of looking up
