"The beauty of the soul shines out when man bears with composure one heavy mischance after another, not because he does not feel them, but because he is a man of high and heroic temper."
-Aristotle

Summer,
Oh how I miss your long, drawn out days,
The freedom your bring,
The elimination of time,
That is what I miss most
Fall,
Oh how I long
For your many changing colors,
Your warmth,
And your cold,
The trees are confused,
As am I,
Once vulnerable,
Now preparing,
For the heartbreak of Winter,
They begin their transformation,
Winter,
Oh winter,
The one closest to my heart,
I long for you often,
I take myself back to the time, When you changed me,
When you left your last frost,
Come,
Come wrap your bitter arms around me,
Come take me in,
Come swallow my sorrow,
Erase my memories,
Freeze my heart,
My mind,
and my soul,
Return my innocence,
Change me back,
Winter...
Spring,
Oh, the joy of life,
Though I lack much memory,
For I still hold on to the past time,
The birds sing,
They're calling out for a savior,
The new life,
Give it love,
Teach it strength

The author's comments:
After recovering from one of the most difficult years of my life, I was inspired to write this piece. The seasons of the year reflect upon my changing perspectives and feelings upon life. I hope that it brings moments of joy and sadness to each reader, just as life does.
