oven tapping its fingers as it heats up
blending chocolate-banana smoothies
glass self-annihilating, dropping through slippery fingers
resonating pots and pans like twirling in circles
lights clicking on and off
table legs relaxing into tile
water wearing away cake crumbs
chilly drafts from open refrigerator doors silently wafting
the smell of warm yeast floating through the cold kitchen air
boiling water
the dishwasher humming, moaning songs of soap and water
flipping the faded page of a recipe book dotted with hershey’s 100% unsweetened cocoa powder
bare feet crushing crumbs of goldfish littering the floor
draining disposal gargling
pouring rich, creamy milk into a chipped pine tree-green mug
potato perspiring in the microwave
slurping ramen noodles in boiling chicken-flavored broth
angel hair relinquishing their uprightness to churning water
orville’s kettle corn exploding
chopping leafy romaine lettuce and red onions
sipping hot cocoa with cinnamon through pursed lips
spooning bright orange carrot soup into creamy white cereal bowls
cupboards clanging shut
drawers squeaking open
grating squishy mozzarella cheese into a pile of styrofoam
grandma’s voice through the telephone
kitchen-aid whisking whipping cream
mixing pancake batter with a fork, scraping on the edges of the flour-plastered metal bowl
lukewarm water cliff jumping out of the fridge
flour sifting, leaving white smoke behind
bugs attempting to fly through the window
broom sending mushed grains of rice flying
orange juice leaking from torn flesh of an orange, burning raw skin
chewing a banana
sunlight streaming through the windows
chattering at the dinner table
floured hands punching lumps of clay

The kitchen is one of my favorite places to be. There seem to be too many amazing things going on in the kitchen, and I wanted to take some of them bit by bit and play with them. Enjoy!
