mute of thoughts, desire, hope
no loudness to distill,
but no voice to protest,
an illusion of order persists,
masking the muted chaos
the sound of silence
is murder, not peace
for we have killed
joy, music, love

The author's comments:
This poem explores the dual nature of silence. While silence has frequently been praised, I pointed out that keeping silent has political consequences (would the Holocaust have persisted if people had voiced their concern their nieghbors?).
