I set out to conquer the world with friends all around me

I thought up an angel with wings when I believed in the manger.
And a warrior with skill when my friends weren’t strangers.

But my angel deserted me when my faith was in question.
and my warrior was killed when I fell to depression.
A demon instead to help with my plight,
But I haven’t seem him since I thought I was alright,
So I imagined a vampire to be by my side,
A role model to guide me; he was my pride.
He’s still around, but has his own regrets to face,

While a hungry emptiness smiles at me as it gives chase,
So I run from the world with claws at my back,
While something in my mind screams, “Why not attack?”
I won’t turn around and maybe it’s fear.
Maybe it’s the thought of my ghost I hold dear.

If in the end the emptiness surrounds me,
I won’t regret that
I set out to conquer the world with friends all around me

This is a reflection of some of the struggles I faced and how my writing helped me get through them. I'm posting this after having only written it about an hour ago, so it's likely that I might update it eventually.
