He treads lightly,
careful for the terrors of his past,
always on the watch,
he's been known to wear two masks.
with two aliases to conceal him,
he sets out into the night.
confident, fearless, he doesn't shirk his duty,
he stands guard, keeps her safe 'til dawns light.
his deeds forever go unthanked,
for his presence to her is unknown
he does his job so well,
she always believes she's alone.
He's the very definition of a hero,
the safety net below her high-wire.
she's so very lucky,
because his arms will never tire.
