eyes of ice

Your eyes of ice are what caught me by surprise. They captivated me.
I was unaware of the damage they could do to me.
We grew you and I. Closer and closer every hour every second.
It only made it harder to run a way, to run away from some thing that is a part of you.
Looking back now I guess that it was partially my fault that we fell apart
But your eyes of ice didn’t have to break me from the inside out.

It killed me when I couldn’t get those eyes of ice to look at me.
It killed me that they hated me.
I didn’t know what to do I began to abhor and hate those eyes of ice.
For three long years my pain and hate grew. I imploded I began to despise myself.
I told no one of my pain I let no one help. I fell like cascading rain.
Looking back now I see that it was partially my fault that we fell apart.

Our pain finally collided. Your eyes of ice bore into my sage eyes.
Our eyes create a stormy ocean. Our voices brew the billowing wind.
No one matters, their all a blur in eternity;
The only thing that matters is us in the midst of our wailing tempest.
Looking back now I know that it was partially my fault that we fell apart.

Like all storms, ours settles and weakens, slowly drifting away.
Crystal tears fall from my sage eyes. Remorse and regret fill my soul.
How did this happen? How did we get here? How do we go back?
Start anew. See each other as a new creature.
Nothing can erase the past, but nothing stops you from forgiving.
Looking back now I know that it was partially my fault that we fell apart,
But your eyes of ice didn’t have to forgive me.
