Crossroads

I sat on the stairs
staring up
in between

the sun,
half gone from behind the roaring towers,
and the moon,
her face half veiled
by the arboreal wonders so far off.

Stars teased the sky
darting to and fro existence
like minnows in a pond
yes. no. maybe so.
like the color of the sky
a forever dance
between orange and purple
waltzed the land.

at crossroads the world sat
dark and light
like children sat
on their toes
while sitting down

up above, the eddies swirled,
a slow whirlpool swirling
palette for the mixing of day and night,
a stroke, a strike—

And the world begins to slide,
slowly moving,
as the violet sings adieu,
and moves on past
orange takes center stage.
The light trembles slightly,
weak at the knees,
as it answers the call,
of the day,
and the stars rest again—

As I sit here on the staircase;
at the cross roads.
