Don't be a victim; be a titan.

(If stupidity was fatal, we’d all be dead.
If stupidity was a song, we’d all be singing.
If stupidity was a plague, we’d all be quarantined.
If stupidity was a book, we’d all be reading.)
A child with a spirited soul
Is coloring outside the lines.
A teacher who’s old and decrepit
Does not take this in stride.
She glares him down and takes his art
And his flame silently grows cold
Whatever happened to the fire?
Not just the teacher’s – but the world’s?
There are lovers, there are fighters
There’s black and there’s gray
Can’t we both love the Earth
And burn its ideas a little every day?
The world is full of mindless people
Who, on their own, cannot speak or act
They look to others for desperate guidance
And take their stuttered words as fact.
A teen girl laughs then bats her eyes
‘I’m so stupid…I just don’t know!’
Is she lacking in common sense
Or is it all a show?
Ten men watch, one man screams
And grips madly at his head
They can help, so why don’t they?
Why are we all SO DEAD?
A woman is on her knees, praying to her god:
‘Forgive me, Lord, for I have sinned.
I slept with him then killed his wife.
I won’t ever do it again.’
They pick his clothes, they pick his thoughts
Like an orchard full of fruit
He cannot do anything for himself-
Yet you take his words as truth?
I’m young, and I do not know a lot
But if there IS one thing I know
My life’s path is designed solely by me
So stop telling me where to go.

What inspired me to write this piece? Bad Religion
What do I hope people will get from it? Stop staring and start reacting.

Title: Loosely stolen from a Bad Religion song (Struck A Nerve).
Picture: Chosen because it's freaking adorable.

I found a dead chicken on the side of the road today...

"Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices."
