Scared to death
Of moving on
And leaving behind
The safety of my home
And the warm embrace
Of family.
Scared to death
Of being alone
In this dangerous world
With no one there
To protect me
From the terrors of real life.
Scared to death
Of starting afresh
Where every decision
Could mean the difference
Between a new path
Or a dead end.
Scared to death
Of taking the leap
Into the unknown
And hoping
For a gentle landing
But knowing it won’t be.
Scared to death.
