"Those Eyes"
Those eyes
The ones that
Won the key to my
father’s heart,
And looked lovingly while saying:
‘till death due us part’
The ones
that were passed
Down to the next
Generation,
And you should be
truly proud of your
Creations.
Those eyes
The ones
That shut tight
When you sang
Your song
But unfortunately,
Your melodic tunes couldn’t
Last very long.
The ones
That grew
Weary and tired,
But still,
Their beauty I have admired.
Those eyes
The ones that carried
All the pain and guilt,
But still your
Complaints were only
Soft threads in a
Large,
Run-down quilt.
The ones
That flooded with
Quiet tears,
When you whispered your
Last goodbye
Into our sorrowful ears.
Those eyes
The ones
That could no longer
See,
The sadness
That consumed
Dad, Maria,
and me.
Those eyes
The ones that
Are a bright light
Shining in the darkness
Of my coldest nights.
The ones that have
Paved the way
To make me who I am
Today.
My life has
Moved n,
Yet you are always
On my mind,
And with those
Eyes, you will find:
A bright, young
Woman and say:
“Yes, she was mine”.
And when these eyes
Look up above,
They fill up with
Tears and all of your
Love.
