Drifting

I drift among these shifting seas,

In this deep, cold night,

And stars float all around me,

In their silent dance.

Breaking this ocean of infinity,

With shifting spots of light.

One by one, they leave me,

Flashing with brilliance

And with gathering entropy,

Fade forever from sight.

One by one, they contribute,

To this gathering night.

Now alone, I float eternal

In this stygian night.

Neither sound, nor light, nor touch

Breaks my reverie

Then with deepest harmony,

He shouts "Let There Be Light!"

I wrote it while listening to "Road to Nothingness" by Solar Fields. It was inspired by the short story "The Last Question" written by Isaac Asimov.
