My Teddy Bear

They fight all the time
And I just hug my teddy bear
My room is the color green
Dad doesn’t like that
He says it’s not for a boy
That’s another thing they like to argue about
They yell a lot and sometimes throw things
I hide in my room
And I just hug my teddy bear
At night, my mom kisses me on the cheek
Dad doesn’t like that
He says she shouldn’t do it
That’s another thing they argue about
I try to go to sleep
But they’re always screaming
And I just hug my teddy bear
I like to read a lot
Dad doesn’t like that
He says boys don’t read
That’s another thing they fight about
I try to concentrate on the pictures
But they’re always hitting
And I just hug my teddy bear
My mom packs my lunch for school
Dad doesn’t like that
He says I should pack my own lunch
That’s another thing they argue about
I always try to eat my sandwich
But it’s all squished from his angry fists
And I just hug my teddy bear
I walk with my teddy bear
Dad doesn’t like that
He says it’s not something boys do
That’s another thing they argue about
He throws bear in the trash can
I try not to cry
I can still hear them screaming
I reach down and pull him out
He’s all messy and dirty
They’re still yelling
And fighting
And I just hug my teddy bear
