So she fell.

Her tears felt warm on my arm, and I wrapped my arms around her, as if it would keep her together, or shield her from what she never saw coming.
This one little tear, I didn't catch it. And it fell onto the floor; a dark mark nestling beside our feet. That drop held the weight of her pain.
The nest thing I knew the world ripped open from under us, and I can feel her falling through my arms but no matter how hard I held on I couldn't stop her from slipping.
All I wanted to do was help.
All I could hear in my mind was SAVE HER SAVE HER SAVE HER.
It physically hurt me to know that I couldn't, that it wasn't going to help her as much as I so dearly wished it would.
As the world tore open wider and wider, the unknown blackness looked so deep and unforgiving. I could see that she couldn't hold herself together much longer. So she fell.
