Shadow

I flicker.
I dance.
I laugh at
how she never seems to know
Where I





go

I have my elusive means of escape:
disappearing at the end of a sidewalk,
shrinking and morphing
into whatever shape the sun will make.

But then again,
I never leave.
a constant companion.

under the veil of the sun
I glimmer.
a gossamer flashing by, flashing gone
in the cool shade of darkness.

beneath the starry moonlight night
I gleam.
a glowing illusion
appearing dark,
created by light.


So there must be no reason to find me irksome,
have you realized
you dread through your darkest times
when i leave you?
I complete you
your eternal companion
your shadow.
