i'm a wisher
more or less
dandelions, shooting stars, just in my mind
i wish for the play to go well
to just be able to finally finish that project

often, i wish for love
first, the funny, dark-haired boy
we went out for a month
then for just someone
someone
then for the freshman
who turned out to be in a relationship
a little of my hope died when i read that
or the seventh grader
who gave a rose to the other girl
a redhead
maybe i should just stop wishing
it keeps backfiring
