I stare at this blank wall
looking into the eyes of the others around me
i see sorrow and fright
and I know the eyes can see me too
as i stare at them, they seem to look at me the way I did
I realize I am one of them and the eyes can seek me too
As the Gestapo stands us up straight, numbers us one by one, then sends each of us in a different direction
and just when I thought we would make it, i looked around me
and the eyes were no longer there

This is a poem that I wrote for a school play "Can you hear them crying" about the Holocaust. It has touched me tremendously and this poem means a lot to me.
