It's so hard to look up when you've been looking down for so long.

It's so hard to look up when you've been looking down for so long
When it seems like everything around you is wrong
People say it'll be okay, you just gotta stay strong
But they don't understand that you are weak
You've been crying for weeks
Close your eyes, but you get no sleep
That alarm clock beeps
Signals the start of another day
But you don't wanna leave your bed so you pray
But your tongue is tied, what do you say
And you can't save yourself, cause your in so deep
Like a swimming pool, 12 feet
You don't know how to swim, so you sink
You jump out of bed cause you fell back asleep
You try to look up, but you're still staring at your feet

This is a poem I wrote in class one day. I had recently found out someone had committed suicide, and then I was thinking about the bad day everyone was having despite the smile we put on our faces. My poem basically says that you've been feeling down for so long, even if you do look up, you're a far way from the light. It expresses how I understand the hardships all of us teenagers share.
