My Fragile Little Heart
My heart’s a little battered and a little bruised
But it’s yours
I haven’t trusted it with anyone before
But I trust you
It’s a fragile little thing
I never risked love till now
Its wings are small and new
Fluttering carelessly when I’m near you
But they feel stronger by the day
Your presence is making me whole
I never noticed the gap before
No one tried to fill it
I never knew what was eating me up
Didn’t know what I was missing
Now you’ve come along
Everything feels right
I see new found beauty in every little light
But I don’t trust myself to make this work
So I trust in you then I have no doubt
Our fledgling love is true
My heart’s a little battered and a little bruised
But you heal me up
I feel brand new.
