I dream of meeting someone
who will make me count the rings on my trunk of existence
make me close my eyes an hour preceding the sunset
just so I could really marvel at the beauty it has in store
someone who jumps from roof to roof
and sings in airport bathrooms
because who would remember
and who would care
Someone who would carry me inside when I fell asleep in the car
and who’d always save a knee for me to sit on
Someone who plays wave chase on the beach and
lets the wave win just to make me laugh
Someone who untangles a seagull
from a plastic bag to see it sail away, free
Someone who lets me sit on the handlebars of their bike
while we sail through the cobblestone streets of Italy
Someone who will give me the first bite of a croissant
and the first sip of hot chocolate without asking
Someone who whispers music in my ears
and counts the clouds in the sky
Someone who won’t get tired of the person I am
and won’t stop being the person he is
Someone who I believe only exists in dream
And if dreaming is my way to this person
I think I might like to dream on
