Wilson

We hit it off from the first moment
I could tell, but I didn’t want to show it
Somehow we ended up talking through the night
And I couldn’t stop the smile
From spreading
right
across
my face

We lay there talking, side by side
And through your ceiling, I swear I could see
The stars dancing in a balmy sky
Should I kiss you
My hands seem to think so,
My fingers slipping in and out of yours
How am I so comfortable,
I can’t believe I’ve only just met you

Our banter comes so easily
There’s a chatter in my head,
An instant replay of everything you said
How can this feel so intimate
Like I have known you from another time, another place
I trace over the dent of my body in your bed
Press my palm down, willing the outline of my form to hold
Maybe our bodies know better than our minds
To break the unsaid, the thickening tension,
The cold air lingering so precariously in between
Your hip and mine,
Your thigh and mine,
Your arm and mine
But I know I won’t be the one to break the spell.
