Describing Me

Emotions divide like the elements,
Not being quite so eloquent,
With disappointments around every bend
Shaping me into who I've been.

I am always entangled with different fellows,
They come around when they see my stilettos,
Infatuated with a lover one week and moving on the next,
They seem to disappear like a deleted text.

Loyalty, responsibility, and immaturity,
The first two matter, but the last may cause some insecurity.
Absorbing material like a sponge,
Having no time to take any sort of plunge.

Out in the dust swinging a rope on a horse,
The horse is tough, vigorous, and high spirited, jumping here and there while I change course.
Wearing a dress and heels in June,
Probably won’t be home anytime soon.

Rugged and course at one time,
Then delicate and refined as if turned on a dime.
Riding a horse as the wind blows,
Not slowing to match the pace that is set as it snows.

The rising and setting suns inspire a lingering thirst,
A longing for a flame that almost always ends cursed,
Water makes it that much stronger, the rain, the ocean,
Emotions strengthen with the natural commotion.

The sound of hooves mark my happiest days,
As if I was in a haze,
The sharp clear clop clop clop sounding short and brisk,
It makes me want to take the final risk.

Emotions divide like the elements,
Not being quite so eloquent,
With disappointments around every bend
Shaping me into who I've been.
