After All
You seem so old and worn.
Your pages keep falling out.
You’ve been a part me for so long.
I’d die if you ever got lost.
Your cover is old and scratchy.
Your pages once so perfectly white like pearls.
Now are wrinkled and covered in dust.
It’s still nice to have you around though.
A tale of exotic adventures,
That never fails to brighten my day.
A novel full of sadness and sorrow,
And also happiness and joy.
There are plenty of laughs
Plenty of tears,
And plenty of anger too.
I don’t know a single soul
That doesn’t appreciate
You being a part of their lives.
Yet someday I will lose you.
That I don’t doubt.
But for now, I am joyful.
I know your story by heart.
I can recite it with ease.
And knowing that,
I don’t really have to worry.
I won’t truly lose you
After all.
