"Enough!" I command
Its been going on for too long
All this race hate
Creating false assumptions
Cutting people deeper than the sharp tip of a knife
Sick of how the world is being pulled apart by its seams
Because of thing
Skin color
When we all explain what our favorite color is
Nothing happens
"Mine is purple"
See? Nothing.
No hatin' or discrimination
But when a guy saunters up for a high five and he's black
The world sets on fire
A blaze of insults
Aimed right at the black guy
Now I don't see much of a difference, between favorite colors or skin colors
Do you see something that I'm missing?
If you do, fill me in
Cuz all I see is color
Covering up a heart of gold inside

The author's comments:
I read a book called Bronx Masquerade and it was about these kids who wrote poetry. The kids were mostly black but some were white. They all assumed stuff about about each other because of what they looked like when that really doesn't matter at all.
