“Some of the best sermons we will ever hear will be thus prompted from the pulpit of memory—to an audience of one!”

I step over that ever-changing line
Between their world and mine,
I walk out of that wasted place
Into the maw with teeth of fire,
I feel the weighted bonds cut away
By the jaws of flame
As I greet the coming darkness,
I step over that ever-changing line
Between their world and mine

Alas, the maw with teeth of fire
Does not consume me,
For it is not my end
But my beginning,
In the darkness is a clearing
Full of light and rapture,
The thorns of temporal flesh
No longer piercing,
An eagle gives its cry
As it rides on the wind undaunted,
Alas, the maw with teeth of fire
Does not consume me,
For it is not my end
But my beginning
