its the selfish
waters
that steal away
your pride

ebbing and flowing
over your naked
wonders
open, prone to the world

and soon
the biting chill arrives
secure in its knowledge
that it is
the superior

the sprinkled snow
comes quick

the furious,
nonchalant,
oceans
envelope you

and so you lay
unaffected,
oblivious,
to the

nautical winter
