My godfather had lots to say
(most of it rubbish, but some ok).
On the darkest day of my life,
He sat me down on his knee,
And I’ll never forget
The words he said to me.

He said the world can be a sad bad place.
When things get hard you need to
Move at a decent pace.
If you move too fast,
You’re sure to fall on you face,
But move too slow and more
than the devil will give chase.

If you fall down, you’ve got to get right back up.
Don’t even stop when things get tough.
Be brave, love, and be strong.
Trust you heart to never lead you wrong.
The face of a child should never be streaked with tears,
But even grown men cry when the face their fears.
Live your life and enjoy these years.
And when you need to talk, I’ll still be here.
