I took a new way home today
Felt like I should
Alone and driven to invent a spontaneous quest
Rosetta stoned with no reason, found the freeway
Two exits passed not taken
I’ve kissed their mouth before, I wanted a virgin taste
North bound no cause, steered right to an unknown road
Had an idea but not sure where
Up hatch right again, path looked promising for adventure
Ignored the 10 turn by turn narrow road to familiar Rio es Condio
Downhill, railroad crossed
Basalt rock laid to the right screamed for a climb
Broken glass swift to the top, memories of good times arise
Stumbled down other side
Back in car for a drive, to keep this drug alive
Dirt road now curious as where I am, random fields appeared happy
Cop to the left
Chattaroy a known name led to a forgotten church
Walked to river where a missed infant shiver began
Smiled at the thought
Back in car so I can dry, this drug is about to die
Out on not missed highway, sun in eyes hand on wheel,
To drive home
Passing John Hill as he laughs back to a sane routine
Coming down to an end. But Hardesty gave another fix.
Kept me high
On dirt rocks flew, familiar flipped-bitch fried escape
Made my way to the end of it all, back to Woolard
Up that hill
But down again an everyday path, so it played ticks and leeches
To my house, to meet my cage alone again, quest was short lived
But I was happy
I took a new way home today
