Cutting Class

The bell rings and we share a sly smile.
We have not been this excited, well not in a while.

We are afraid the suspicious look on our faces will give us away.
No time to worry now! From the halls we must stray!

Teachers chatting do not know of our devious plan,
As against the walls they leisurely stand.

Only minutes to go before we are gone.
We will never make it out in time!
These halls are much too long!

Up to the door we anxiously creep,
As it flies open, out we leap!

We made it! We made it! We are safe so far!
The only dilemma is getting past the guard.

We sneak through the cars then hide behind trees.
We make our swift exit. Finally Free!

Now what?

The author's comments:
My best friend and I have always joked about skipping class. We talk about how fun it would be to sneak out of the building but we always run into the same problem. There is nothing to do once we are free.
