The Medication of Solitude
The icy silence of my being
Surrounds me as a cloud
The dark words glare at me
And rhythm fills my ears
There was a time
When I would find
Solace in a person mine
But now my only comfort is solitude
My eyes are focused
My toe taps the beat
As I listen to the people
That don’t know I’m there
Those eyes fly across
The pages of the world I live
The numbers of the clock
Smoothly murder my sleep
There was once a time
That I wanted to die
But now I laugh and cry
Sing and read my books.
