The Lying Thought

I don't know what’s come over me
The way I felt after one detail of your life
I shed the light on you that till
I couldn't take it anymore

But to leave it alone would have left me
with the thought that was so silly

To think that I could have just left myself happy and content
Now I am left with an emptiness
The detail reached a hand into the darkness
Taking my heart with it

But to leave it alone would have left me
with the thought that was so assuming

They all could have told me
That the detail was a figure of my imagination
Just like the time before
Yet I consoled the elders of love and they all said the same thing
Darling he could like you so I went ahead and asked

But to leave it alone would have left me
with the thought that was so crazy

All the angels and feathers in the sky couldn't have stopped me that night
neither could the beast of burden
nor the foes beneath the foamy sea
so I asked the fatefully disastrous question
Who do you
an the answer was quite mute

But to leave it alone would have left me
with the thought that was so uplifting

Now I'm sinking sinking
and I don't even know why
I never loved you
but yet my heart was wrenching for you to love me
Haha, now I see

But to leave it alone would have left me
with the thought that was so, so
well
a lie

But what a cost comfort is to be confronted by a lie
that was so soft and cozy like a dream.
