“The friend in my adversity I shall always treasure most. I can better trust those who helped to relieve the gloom of my dark hours than those who are so ready to enjoy with me the sunshine of my prosperity”
- Ulysses S. Grant

I see who I would like to be, I dream of it everyday
I wonder if this is achievable.
I desire success, and wonder, as we all do
For it has been a long time coming

I wonder how it would be if I am deterred
Me falling into a pit totally darkened by sorrow
The cries for the future, darkest sight, I am hopeless
Sit in a corner, I am all alone

I speak to myself
And observe every crack in the surface
I know that I must watch the changes
For the fall is never ending

I am reminded of the old man
Once youthful and set to take the world by its reigns
He falls so gracefully
Yet so unexpectedly he falls in silence

The fall actually differs for each person
It seems that it makes no difference
For the darkness is one’s friend
As well as their enemy

The bottom is solid
Resembling all that you’d find in the light
So tempting to those who give up
I will balance so strongly, I will ascend gracefully

I always imagined my life as me tumbling through an obstacle course.
