a cosmological theory on the beginning of the universe
they say the universe started
with a superheated ball of matter
 impossibly small
 impossibly dense
 crammed so tightly,
 it could explode any second

when that hot, dense ball finally broke apart,
radiated waves of light and heat across the universe –
 suddenly, where there was nothing,
 there was something

i can sense a hot, dense knot in my stomach
 when you look at me
 impossibly small
 impossibly dense
 ready to explode any second

so i will sit here, waiting
 for that dark, stuffy universe
to burst into light, into matter,
 into existence

 waiting
 for that big
 big

 …

 BANG
