Eighty-eight lights
a white silhouette.

Eighty-eight lights
emanating from a smog filled city
clean and pure.

Eighty-eight lights
what a pretty sight
those eighty-eight lights.

But eighty-eight lights
don't make up for all we've lost.

Eighty-eight lights
won't bring them back
Three thousand lives
gone in an instant.

Eighty-eight lights
are all that remain
of what was

and these eighty-eight lights
are just the beginning
of what will come to be.

I wrote this in the car on September 11th after going to see the memorial lights at Ground Zero. The beams of light are made up of 44 lights per beam, and they symbolize a lot.
