TV static
Candles lit
It is late
Loud, scary flashes distracting my thoughts
Sleepless stirring
Candle and arms on the table
Conversation with silence
Questions are asked
Yes or no.
Are you woman?
Flame rises
Are you home?
Flame lowers
Are you alone?
Flame rises
How did you die?
Flame rises

And rises


Out of control
House in flames

Her death’s story


Is now mine.
Questions were asked


Yes or no
