The Colors of My World

February 4, 2011
If I were a color I think I’d be gray
I’m in the middle with nothing to say
Except when I kneel down and begin to pray
I’m like a “rainstorm kind of day”

The world’s in black and white
It has its dark and light
It’s bold and bright
And evanescent night

If my emotions were a color they’d be blue
I’m free like the ocean fast and true
I’m sad and careful about what I do
I’m afraid to love, so I’m afraid of you

The people I see all see red
They call for action, for mindless bloodshed
The color control is rash in their heads
If they don’t control it, they’ll soon lie dead

If I picked a color that described me, it’d be purple royal
I spend days working hard, in my endless toil
To friends and family I’ll always be loyal
My heart beats its tune so joyful

My friends are yellow
Happy and mellow
Their words sound rich like a tuned cello
Independent gals no need for a fellow

If I could only see one color it’d be pink
The color of a flirtatious wink
Of girly ventures on womanhood’s brink
Of the healing from a heart sink

All around, I am immersed in green
The color of life and all in between
The earthy connection of all that is seen
A color befitting the proudest queen

If I were a color I’d be orange
Because nothing rhymes with it

What awesome imagery you used here! I love how you described people and feeling with colors. My favorite lines, (I could really relate):

"I’m sad and careful about what I do
I’m afraid to love, so I’m afraid of you"
