"If you don't stand for something, You'll fall for anything."

My note

Is tucked neatly
Inside my
Peacoat-Pocket.
It’s velvety touch
Soothing.

The envelope

Is fat with late

Gossip.
Whispering words,
Our ears never,
Meant to hear.

My message

Is well hidden,
In a wall of words.
So discreet, barely
Noticeable. Its content
Vidid with emotion.

My message

Is one you won’t
Be looking for.
Or even recognize,
Much less
Understand
If you did spot it.

On the paper inside

I promise to be
Your best friend
No matter what
You have done,
Or what you may do.
Which does in fact
Include, breaking
My desolate heart.

On the paper inside

I tell you how

Happy I am

That you have found her.

Which naturally,

Is a lie.

You say to me

Confident that
I will keep your
Secrets, that you love her.
Even though I have
Always been here.

You say to me,

That you will never
Want another soul.
Never is a long time.

And in the moments

You talk,
I keep my lips sealed.
My only wish,
Is that you knew
How much
I love you.
How much It will
Kill me to lose you.

And in the moments

Your lips move,
Breath wasted.
I wish you could
Know, how much
I will never want
Another soul.
Never is a long time.

You ask me

Who the envelope
Is for, you reach to
Take it. I step back,
I rip it up,
And tell you it was
Nothing…
Nothing important at all.
Not worth your time,
Or worry.

This was an actual event. I actually did have a note for one of my dearest friends, and i did in the end rip it up.
